These terms are totally alien to me way before the Sg trip. All I'm familiar with in Indian menu is Naan, thanks to breadtalk.

Because of that, we needed much help from a friend in ordering. If my memory serves me right we ordered paratha, papadum, basmati rice, chicken (or duck?) and mutton masalla.
Paratha is indian flat bread, much like pita or flour tortilla. It is just a little crispy and the one we ate is incorporated with egg, cheese and garlic. It was served with a variety of dips or sauces. I think one was yoghurt, one had spinach or jalapeno and the other with red spices since it was extremely spicy.
Papadum is crispy like a tortilla or taco shell. Think unflavored chippy.

Basmati is that long grain rice. Flavored with spices but not that spicy. It's "kaning buhaghag which my mom won't like. I can't remember anything about the chicken so I guess it's not that noteworthy.
And my favorite?..*drumroll*
It's mutton masalla! It's just beef in spices you know. Haha. Can't help it I'm a carnivore. It's actually very similar to caldereta. The type with melt in your mouth beef!
So there goes my indian food experience. Definitely I'd visit that famous indian restaurant near the office sometime soon. I suggest you do too...AND...Eat with your bare hands! :)
*visit New Bombay in Dela Costa or I think there is also in greenbelt?*
